JDOG JUNK REMOVAL is a fascinating new business here in northern Colorado. I had never heard of it before, so I was surprised to find out that this rapidly-growing franchise operation is already at 73 locations around the country – and counting.
I had the opportunity to sit down with Chris Lewis this week, the new owner of the local franchise that opened in February 2017.
What’s amazing is the mission behind this company.
THIS WEEK INCLUDED THE SUDDEN DEATH of two people in my circle of family and friends.
It gets you thinking. And praying.
This is when you realize that the world doesn’t begin and end with your business, your job, your activities.
It’s the kind of wakeup call that happens when you have a heart attack or big cancer scare.
COMMUNITIES HAVE SPRUNG TO THE TOP of my mind this week.
Each of us has communities that we participate in and contribute to. Social groups. Family. Work. Spiritual support. And other friendships.
This is much more important than we usually recognize.

GALLUP DOES SOME AMAZING WORK.
If you haven’t been following their “State of the Workplace” research, you should. Especially if you care to attract and retain great people, and motivate them to excellence.
That’s why I was excited this week to get the notification of their updated report, available for free on their website.

OK, honestly, how many of your employees actually remember what your values are?

JASON BRABSON IS CHANGING THE FACE of non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) in Fort Collins.
You might remember that I wrote about Heart and Soul Paratransit last year, and the progress he’s made has been amazing. If you recall, this business is dedicated to transporting infirm and disabled for medical treatment.
That’s what taxi services, Dial-A-Ride and Dial-A-Taxi supposed to do, of course, but the service is … unpredictable and unreliable.
IN THE 1960s, Paul Simon wrote a song entitled Fakin’ It. Here’s the second verse:
I’m such a dubious soul,
And a walk in the garden
Wears me down.
Tangled in the fallen vines,
Pickin’ up the punch lines,
I’ve just been fakin’ it,
Not really makin’ it.
This really speaks to the imposter syndrome which strikes a great many business leaders.
The truth is that we all feel weak and unsettled inside. We all feel like we’re fakin’ it.
