Jane_Northrup_use J ANE NORTHRUP IS MY INSPIRATION. Because she’s living an amazing story with clarity and conviction.

Jane started Authority Staffing last year, as a way to bring ex-convicts to full employment.  But that’s a tiny fraction of the story.

You see, she’s doing this because her deep Christian faith has given her concrete direction.  Even including the name of the company itself and the fact that it’s for-profit.

alchemy logoUSUALLY I PROFILE FOR-PROFIT COMPANIES but I was so fascinated by this story that I just had to share.

I was introduced to Lucy Wallace by Stephanie Heacox, who I talked about last week.  Lucy heads up Alchemy of Movement, where she delivers extremely energetic dance classes in Boulder.

But Lucy discovered an opportunity to bring dance into women’s prisons.  At first she thought this might just be an occasional class, but over the last year it’s become amazing.

stephSTEPHANIE HEACOX is launching a great new business, Senior Homeshares.  It’s built on a powerful personal motivation to address pain and reduce anxiety.

You see, a few years ago, her mother was in the usual end-of-life bind about housing.  She couldn’t sustain the family home, but didn’t want to move into Assisted Living or one of the other services for people who need support.

The financial burden was part of it, of course, but also the difficulty of making decisions to become dependent on others.

Becky GarciaMASSAGE THERAPY is an interesting field.  Despite having been around for many decades (and in the East, centuries), it’s still breaking into peoples’ awareness.

Yet it’s such a powerful addition to creating a healthy life.

I’ve been talking with Becky Garcia, who heads up Garden of Healing Massage Therapy here in Windsor.  And I’ve had a chance to peek behind the scenes of the creation of her heart-centered service.

HFM logoMEDICAL CARE is going through traumatic changes in this country. You might not be aware, but primary care family physicians are disappearing rapidly – either by being gobbled up into large care groups, or going out of business.

The net effect of this is that quality of primary care is going down and options are disappearing.

Helmet Revision_FinalON MONDAY I talked about Change Composites’ Umbo Helmet which they submitted for the Blue Ocean Challenge at CSU.

It was a day of great innovative ideas in a wide range of areas.

Today, I’m very pleased to see that this company just won second place in the competition yesterday, landing $5000 in prize money and nation-wide recognition.

Umbo_logoKudos to a great team with a powerful mission.  You’re going to change the world!

Shield with UmboDO YOU SEE THAT BUMP in the middle of the shield?

That’s an Umbo.  It’s used to deflect swords and better defend the soldier.

So it’s interesting that a new company designing a better bike headgear has chosen to call it an Umbo Helmet.

This is a group with a mission, for sure.
