A JOYOUS EASTER to all my Christian friends!
This is the most important day of the year. Not only for religious reasons, but for becoming a new person.
We all need that renewal. We’re fallen.
My wish is that you will find spiritual strength in this Easter season. When you’re stronger, your business will be too.
But first, chocolate!
MANY YEARS AGO I started using the concept of “Just-In-Time Worrying.” The basic idea is that there’s an appropriate time to worry about something, but often people make it into a protracted period of unfocused anxiety.
And, with perspective, you might even discover that something isn’t worth worrying about at all.
For me, it’s often a spiritual journey. Read the rest of this entry »
DOCTOR DAN WALLIS IS A CHIROPRACTOR with a huge vision.
He started Elevate Chiropractic just a year ago with a unique approach to health. It gives patients the power and ownership to build and maintain a healthy body, supported with Chiropractic attention to the nervous system.
The deeper grounding for this philosophy is based on Dan’s Christian belief that our bodies and our vitality are gifts from God, and that God intends us to live and function well.
ROSANN WINN is a small business owner. And a performer. And a teacher. And a mother and wife.
It’s hard to know which of those to put first.
I’ve known Rosann for a number of years – we first connected when she sang for our yearly church picnic. I was impressed not only with her artistic ability, but also her generous nature and gracious support.
But that’s a tiny part of the picture.
KENT GARVIN STARTED his company in 1995 with a conviction to build a different kind of business.
What he’s grown is amazing in more ways than you’d expect.
At the moment it’s actually three businesses:
- Colorado Iron & Metal scrap metal recycling
- Colorado Metal Manufacturing fabrication and machining
- Green Hop’r equipment sales
J ANE NORTHRUP IS MY INSPIRATION. Because she’s living an amazing story with clarity and conviction.
Jane started Authority Staffing last year, as a way to bring ex-convicts to full employment. But that’s a tiny fraction of the story.
You see, she’s doing this because her deep Christian faith has given her concrete direction. Even including the name of the company itself and the fact that it’s for-profit.
THERE IS A SAYING in computer geekdom: “Garbage in, garbage out.” Meaning that you can’t expect great results when you’re starting with junk.
The human mind works the same way. And it explains how easy it is for people to get caught in cycles of despair and hopelessness. If you don’t have hope coming into your life, it’s hard to imagine how you can have hope for a better future.
J OSH DAPKUS manages the local Bayada Home Health Care marketing group. I confess that I wasn’t really aware of this company, but the more I find out the more impressed I am. Bayada has a range of services to help those wanting caring, supportive health care in the home.
But this isn’t really about the company. It’s about Josh’s journey to get to this destination.
Josh was strongly motivated by his grandmother’s experience with dementia. As you might imagine, this was stressful for him and the whole family. And it convinced him that he would love to spend his life helping others with these challenges.
SALVATION IS AT HAND! Christ is risen!
I would like to take this moment to extend to you the warmth and joy of this, our most holy day of the Christian year. Nearly 2000 years ago, Jesus showed us our path out of sin and into God’s loving presence.
Are you taking time every day to build this into yourself and your business? I don’t care if you market yourself as a Christian company. But certainly you should be letting your values shine forth.
DO YOU PRAY for your business? I know that I’ve struggled with this question over the years.
In our society, we try hard to separate our religious lives on Sunday from our secular lives the other six days of the week.
But God has asked us to be focused on him at all times, not just for an hour or two.
