WE’RE ALL FALLEN, INSECURE, DOUBTFUL. It’s a fact of life and part of the human condition.
Your business, whatever it is, can supply hope. For you, for employees, for partners, even customers.
I mean this in a deep way, not just as an element of your marketing messages.
LAST WEEK
I talked about how a sense of purpose is so much more than just what makes you happy.
But if you think about it, purpose can be an extremely self-centered thing. If you follow the direction of a higher power, then it’s going to be different.
Do you believe you’ve been given a mission from God? Do you believe that His direction is more important than your own wishes?
And what does this have to do with your business?
FOR ME, newsletters and podcasts are an important part of my development and inspiration. So a column today by Richard Rohr caught my eye. In it, he states:
Spiritual gifts increase only by using them.
This brings together a whole lot of thoughts I have around the nature of love, of giving, of support.
MY
SPIRITUAL LIFE can feel a bit dry at times. I know this happens to most people, and it seems to be a part of the human experience that God needs us to learn from.
This time, I decided to try something new. I’m reading a new book called How to Hear God by Lynne Lee. It’s a challenge for me, so I’m taking it slowly, pondering and praying as I go along.
After reading the chapter on journaling, I decided to finally give it a try. Read the rest of this entry »
HRISTUS RESURREXIT! Christ is risen!
This last year has been just amazing, and I’m blessed to be working with such talented and generous people. This blog has been going for less than 16 months, yet it’s generated a level of interest and enthusiasm that I never expected.
I want to offer my sincere thanks for all your support and engagement. I continue to get personal emails, connections, and encouragement every week.
Please take this opportunity to thank all those who are YOUR support – especially in your times of greatest need.
We’re all in this together, after all.
DURING THIS SEASON OF LENT we have a great opportunity to step back and work a bit more on the big picture. I’m not talking about business planning, or even visioning and direction-setting.
It’s more about recognizing the hard work ahead.
How do you take advantage of Lent at the personal level? Many will use it as a time of introspection and spiritual development. Giving up chocolate or coffee might help you do that, but Lent isn’t about denying yourself pleasures and “feeling bad” now so you’ll “feel better” at Easter.
TODAY I HAVE questions but no answers.
I’ve been doing some work recently with another coach, and have found it to be highly valuable. It’s been probably ten years since I’ve worked on my own statement of purpose. I’d like to think that I’ve developed and grown since then.
Here’s the current version of my purpose statement: Read the rest of this entry »
THOM SCHULTZ
runs a Loveland, Colorado based company named Group Publishing. It started 40 years ago as Group Magazine, and quickly expanded to deliver a wide variety of Christian resources for children, youth, and adults.
This is a for-profit company, privately held, delivering religious goods. Their primary customers are Christian churches, groups, and individuals. So I’m not surprised that they base the company on Christian values, and are completely open about it.
But the story doesn’t end there.
In the previous issue, I talked about how we as coaches can help our clients build deep values into a business. In this context “deep values” refer to those motivations that are more important than just making money and delivering products or services.
I find that many coaches are seeking to build just this kind of businesses: one founded upon and expressing deep values. As a Christian coach, it’s likely that you want to include your own faith as part of the foundation of your coaching practice.
Do you want your coaching to make a difference in the world? Here’s a game plan for making that happen.
OUR
CHRISTMAS SEASON is now drawing to a close: Today is the twelfth day, and tomorrow is Epiphany!
It’s a time for renewal, in many ways.
The craziness of the secular holiday season is behind us. Even if you just celebrate it as a time to be with family, it can be nuts. Then with gift-giving and religious celebrations, it’s the busiest time of the year.
