So things get dropped, done incompletely, or come in late. The alternative is to burn yourself out with overwork, but the result of that is that work increases until you’re well beyond capacity.

The problem is that this almost always entails adding work into whatever system we’re talking about. Want to improve marketing? Add more money, more people, more work. We should start this valuable program? More money, more work, more time.
That’s how we get overloaded.

But you have a lot more control over this than you might think. You see, the pressure you’re feeling comes not from the many demands on your time, but on how you respond to those demands.
I’ve learned this lesson when I suddenly had a big life disruption and hand to “check out” from my work tasks. And you know what? The world didn’t fall apart.

It seems like busy-ness is the universally acceptable excuse for anything. We’re all busy, busy is good, and it’s the way we’ve defined life.
As a result, I’m finding it fascinating to be in a place of having more time to be intentional. I took a break from marketing my coaching business this year, and as a result I created a bunch of time to focus on my other priorities.
It’s a bit disorienting, honestly.

WE SEEM TO HAVE a whole lot of things going on right now. Clients. Projects. Presentations. Prospects.
And, for whatever reason, I’m hearing similar things from a lot of other people as well.
