This weekend, I had the opportunity to celebrate the life of my dear sister-in-law. Her talent was amazing.
That got me to pondering whether I’m keeping my gifts hidden inside me, versus sharing them with everyone around me.
The world needs more shared gifts.
We don’t tend to talk much about these kinds of things in the business world, but we should. Because people are given life, given inspiration, given joy when they’re in the place of having that sense of purpose.
Rarely is a person’s purpose to make your business profitable. Not directly, anyway. But that doesn’t mean having a happy employee and having a happy business are at odds with each other.
A marketing person might find personal satisfaction in creating a message which really resonates with customers. A designer can find joy in crafting a product which is effective and efficient.
And I’ve found that a manager can be motivated by leading a group to become inspired and energized by working with each other toward a powerful shared goal.
Your role, my friend, is to find your peoples’ gifts and help them bring that energy to your organization.
