Sometimes it’s better to wipe the slate clean.

Not that you’re ACTUALLY going to do that most of the time. This is a mental exercise, intended to open up possibilities and get your imagination going again.

Usually we take actions based on current relationships, current priorities, and what’s happening right now. Which is fine – stuff needs to get done. But you may never get to planning for a better future.

From a personal standpoint, this is what a blank slate looks like:

  • If I had some decent assets, but no obligations, would I be doing what I’m doing?
  • How would I prioritize my relationships?
  • How would I choose to spend my time?
  • What new things would I want to take on?

For a business, it looks like:

  • If I had some decent assets and market position, would we be doing what we’re doing?
  • How would we prioritize where we spend our time?
  • Where would we spend our money?
  • What old things aren’t really serving our mission anymore?
  • What new things would better serve our mission?
  • Who would we want to have on board with us?

Of course, you know all this. So the question is: Are you taking the time to get your head into this space?

Even for one hour?
