THIS WEEKEND IS the celebration of Independence Day in the US.  A patriotic, celebratory, but thoughtful time.

When I was a kid, I got the impression that our country was created in the late 18th century and has been running on automatic ever since.

Boy, was I wrong!

Recent events have highlighted that this country is still a work in progress.  Sometimes things move swiftly, sometimes they’re excruciatingly slow, but always moving.

The same is true for our businesses.  When you get complacent, and you think you have it all figured out, that’s the beginning of the end.

And it’s true at the personal level, too.  I’m convinced that when you stop learning, you start dying.

So keep challenging yourself.  And keep challenging your business.  To get better every year, every month, every day.
