We often go through life and work just feeling the way we do, responding with whatever emotion hits us at the moment.

That means we’re just responding to whatever the world hands us. Then we let the primitive part of our brains suggest something.

There’s a different way.

I decided many years ago that it would be in my best interest to default to being an optimistic guy. That’s not always easy, especially in situations where I’ve been burned before.

The important thing is that it’s a choice. I can choose to have hope, or I can choose to be depressed when it seems everything’s screwed up.

So I try be hopeful. And it works well, because most of the time things DO work out, and I hope it makes me a more pleasant person to be around.
