When you get down to it, the most important things aren’t complicated.
You have a few things which guide your personal choices. Your organization’s purpose is actually pretty straightforward.
Now, you may DO a lot of things, and follow processes which have a zillion steps which contain many hazards. I get that.
But your core values are pretty simple, probably just a few key words. So it might be a great exercise to capture those few words and see how aligned you are around them.
As an example, I was a bit surprised to discover that one of my personal motivating concepts is optimism.
I always thought of myself as a logical and analytic guy, but that particular word didn’t seem to fit in with my self image. Too emotional.
But it drives me crazy to be with people who seem to always be on a downward spiral, especially when there are reasons and the ability to go the other direction. I find myself trying to make others more optimistic. It’s a reason why I started this blog, to be honest.
Most exciting was when I recognized that this was my choice, and I want it. Almost yearn for it. It’s who I want to be.
Who do you want to be?
