I need to ask … are you an actual human being?
A few years ago that question would have been really weird, but with the advances in AI it has become a bit more serious. But, in this case, the real question is whether you bring your humanity into your leadership.
What I’m talking about are things like:
- Do you realize that your body can’t hold up to 24×7 stress?
- Do you give your team rest and relaxation and even fun?
- Do you admit that you can make mistakes?
- Do you allow emotion in the workplace?
- Do your people know who you are outside the context of work?
Without these things, you might as well be a machine. And your folks have no reason to become attached to doing great work.
It’s OK. You can be human.
