This is a great time to celebrate springtime in the northern hemisphere.
And it makes me realize that I tend to accumulate stress over time. Lots of actions to take, decisions to make … so maybe it’s time to take a fresh look.
That’s what weekends and holidays are for, right?
Well, for many jobs it’s super easy to take work stress home with you. And since I work from home, it’s already here!
So it’s become even more important for me to shut off the incessant flow of tasks over the weekend. More often than not, these days I can spend no more than ten minutes on Saturday and Sunday checking my email.
Then I put it aside and focus on other things in life.
You know what? The world doesn’t fall apart. And the accumulation on Monday morning just takes a few minutes to sort through, because honestly most of it isn’t worth reading.
And the best holidays I’ve had – whether a day or a week or even more – are the same way. I no longer have guilt over delaying things until I get back.
Life is more beautiful when you can participate in it. It’s not about “being productive.”
